Alsons Dev Celebrates IP Month at Poblacion Market Central

Davao City—Alsons Development and Investment Corporation (Alsons Dev) in partnership with the Conrado Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation Inc. (CLAFI) honors the rich cultural heritage of Mindanao’s IP communities by showcasing the vibrant traditions of the T’boli people in celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month.

Gono S'bung artists and Alsons Dev team come together in a vibrant celebration of T’boli culture

Last October 26, the lobby of Poblacion Market Central came alive with special cultural presentations by a group of performers from Gono S’bung, a center for T’boli Living Tradition in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. Led by Linda Osman, a T'boli culture bearer and Manlilikha ng Bayan nominee, the presentations featured traditional music, dance, and stories highlighting the importance of preserving T’boli culture for future generations.

Gono S’bung, which means “The House of Gatherings,” is where the T’boli people come together to celebrate their most cherished rituals and gatherings, embodying their communal spirit. Through the rhythmic sounds of T’boli music, the artistry of their dances, and the rich narratives behind their customs, attendees were transported to Gono S’bung to encounter a culture that has been preserved for centuries. More than just entertainment, the presentations offered a meaningful experience that allowed attendees to learn about and connect to the roots of the T’boli people and their heritage.
