Globe has begun restoration work in parts of Visayas where commercial power failure caused network outages amid the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
As of 9 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024, Globe has progressed in restoring call, text and data services in some sites that experienced service disruptions due to power outages. These include parts of the following provinces:
●Biliran
●Eastern Samar
●Leyte
●Northern Samar
●Samar
●Southern Leyte
Less than 6% of Globe sites in the Visayas had experienced weather-related outages.
Meanwhile, restoration efforts will commence in storm-hit provinces across Luzon as soon as ground conditions permit. Power failure had triggered service outages in less than 6% of sites in Northern Luzon, and roughly a quarter of sites in affected provinces across Southern Luzon.
“Our ground teams are doing their best to restore service in areas affected by Kristine despite remaining challenges. Storm-hit communities can rest assured that our services will be back up as soon as we hurdle obstacles on the ground,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
Globe is ready to deploy Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi stations to provide communications support in severely affected areas.
“Kristine” has intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 160 kph as of Thursday morning. It is expected to affect the Philippine territory going into the weekend.
Globe urges its customers to support relief efforts by donating their Globe Rewards points via the GlobeOne app.
